Gramophone Needles

Gram. Needles Edison Standard 014

This phonograph is a "Standard" Model A from around 1902 commonly known as "The Green Oak Standard" due to the green staining used to colour the oak case.   Dating is based on the inclusion of the  push button lift, the appearance of which George Frow dates at October 1901.  Also it includes a shaver which was not offered from 1903.   When purchased  my machine had been fitted with a Combination Attachment which extended its playing potential from 2 minute cylinders only to play both 2 minute and 4 minute cylinders which were introduced in 1908.   However I have since obtained parts to make it single play so the photos and video show it in both playing formats.
