"The Edison Cylinder Phonograph Companion" - George L. Frow - Mulholland Press - 1994- Digital Edition 2014
This book is now available in digital format from iTunes ( $14.95; and £9.49) at a considerable saving over the ridiculous prices quoted for the hard cover copy where the price on Amazon is in the £300+!! A superbly illustrated book it provides detailed information on the range of Edison phonographs in much the same way as Christopher Proudfoot and Brian Oakley did in "His Master's Gramophones" Not worth £300+ but good value at a tenner.
"This England's Book of British Dance Bands"- This England Ltd - 1999- This edition 2001
Gramophones aren't much use without something to play on them and over the last 12 months or so my taste has been for British dance bands of the 20's to the 40's. All very well but as this was even before my time I know little about them. This book is therefore a must have for anyone with similar taste. As it states on the cover " ...from the 20's to the 50's...An illustrated guide to over 300 popular music makers."
